With over three decades of dedication to academia, Pro. Iyiola has held various positions at the University of Lagos, ascending from Graduate Assistant to Professor. His roles included Acting Head of Department, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and currently, Chairman of the Institute of Maritime Transport.

His is also the Director of the Centre for Multimodal Transport. Additionally, he is a Fellow of prestigious shipping and transport institutes and an active member of academic bodies. Beyond academia, he has served as a technical expert for notable organisations including the United Nations Development Programme and various Nigerian ministries and authorities.
